Needs Assessment |
The content of this educational program was determined by rigorous
assessment of educational need and may include surveys, program feedback,
expert faculty assessment, literature review, medical practice, chart
review, and new medical knowledge
This 60 minute per 5 cases training and educational course and tool is
prepared to:
familiarize participants with BI-RADS lexicon and classification
increase participants’ proficiency in the use of a software tool to
assess unknown ultrasound lesions
train participants in BI-RADS compliant Reports

Objectives |
Become familiar with BI-RADS
Lexicon
Apply the knowledge gained to
interpret at least five lesions
Utilize learning software package
(BI-RADS Tutor™) to compare at least five "lesions in question" to a
reference library (Teaching File)

This course is designed for radiologists, radiology residents, radiology
technologists and those interested in breast imaging and the American
College of Radiology Breast Imaging and Reporting Data System

Cultural and Linguistic
Competency |
This activity is in compliance with California Assembly Bill 1195 which
requires CME courses with patient care components to include curriculum in
the subjects of cultural and linguistic competencies. Cultural competency is
defined as a set of integrated attitudes, knowledge, and skills that enables
health care professionals or organizations to care effectively for patients
from diverse cultures, groups, and communities. Linguistic competency is
defined as the ability of a physician or surgeon to provide patients who do
not speak English or who have limited ability to speak English, direct
communication in the patient’s primary language. Cultural and Linguistic
Competency was incorporated into the planning of this activity. Additional

Electronic Teaching File Software |
- Electronic Teaching File software known as BI-RADS Tutor™ is
Computer-Aided BI-RADS Based Lesion Assessment & Teaching File Software
that follows BI-RADS Guidance and Protocol for female breast lesion
assessment
- The software contains carefully compiled by at least three specialty
radiologists an Electronic Teaching File with confirmed findings and
consensus BI-RADS Assessments
- Method of Participation-Analyze a minimum of 5 lesions of the same
modality for 1 CME Credit
- Up to 6 CME Credits per modality
- Approximate time to complete each 5 case exercise is 1 hour
- Complete a brief post-test by comparing your assessment with
consensus assessment of at least three specialty radiologists
- Release Date: 1/1/08. Expiration Date: 12/31/08
